AVA-SAGAING-AMARAPURA AND MINGUN FULLDAY TOUR INCLUDING LUNCH WITH ENGLISH SPEAKING GUIDE
After breakfast at hotel, guide will pick up and this morning, cross a bridge over the Irrawaddy River to Sagaing which is covered with 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious centre of Myanmar. It is home to 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centres and you will visit pagodas such as Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin and U Min Thone Sae. We’ll also visit Sagaing’s local market, a typical Burmese market to know people’s life there. You will find varity of local products there such as local made pottery, silver and other handicrafts.
Drive back to Mandalay and visit the city to Ava, the capital from 14th to 18th centuries, where a short ferry ride will take us across the river to where our horse and carriage are waiting. Visit the old wooden Bagaya Monastery and the debris of the Royal Palace and Fort. There are many small villages located around AVA and as you can travel by horse and cart you’ll get a glimpse of local life in the Burmese countryside.
Lunch at Local Restaurant.
After lunch transfer to jetty to board a private local boat for a trip up the Irrawaddy to Mingun (45 min each way). Visit the Mingun Bell which weighs more than 87 tons and being the world’s largest intact bronze bell and the unfinished Mingun Paya. Mingun’s other highlight is the Hisnbyume Pagoda, a white-washed temple built to resemble Mount Meru. Throughout Mingun there are small shops for crafting traditional basketry and other artistic items and there is plenty of time to stop and learn things with the craftsmen and talk with locals to know their ways of life. After returning to Mandalay visit U Bein Bridge to watch sunset.
Then transfer back to hotel.
